Rules & Regulations

The ring you start in will be the same ring for all your divisions. The first division will be sparring, followed by forms, then self defense. NO coaching will be permitted during competition. All disputes will be settled by arbitrators and are FINAL. We thank you for your cooperation.

Any act of poor sportsmanship will be grounds for disqualification.

Any act of poor sportsmanship on the part of a parent will result in removal of that parent from the grounds.

Breaking

This year we will add Breaking for Advanced Belts (blue and above). Three breaks in a continuous routine; boards will be available for practice and competition (cost for 3 $5). Breaking is judged by the same criteria as Forms.

Forms
(to be judged on one or more of the following)

In the event of a tie, high scores will be dropped and scores re-totalled. If a tie remains, the lowest score will be dropped and the scores retotalled.

Sparring

Equipment for Preschool children is not necessary. All other competitors must have mouthpiece, groin cup, hand, feet, and head gear.

NO SIDELINE COACHING IS ALLOWED. Competitors will be disqualified for impromper gear, behavior, excessive contact (after second warning), or drawing of blood.

Team Sparring

 

Protocol

All competitors doing forms will enter the ring when called, bow to the judges, perform their Kata, wait for their score, then bow out of the ring. First two competitors will perform before either score is given.

Sparring divisions will be directed by as Head judge who will instruct the competitors when to bow, when to begin, and when to stop sparring; call for points, and disqualification if necessary. Any disputes on calls must be directed to the Head judge in a respectful and calm manner. Hostile behavior toward any judges will result in disqualification.
